Orthopedic surgeons are the 'captain of the ship'
Whether we are aware of it or not, the entire operating room (OR) team looks to the orthopedic surgeon to lead the team through the case. There can be only one captain, and you are it. Your attitude, mood and demeanor will generalize to other members of the team. If your OR room is tense, hypersensitive or even somber, then you have nowhere else to look but yourself.
